Achatina achatina - "Tiger snails"

Size: Average adult shell length is 18cm, with an average diameter of 9cm. In exceptional cases the shell can grow to be 30cm long but this is very unlikely, especially in captivity. Large ones may achieve a shell length of 22cm.

Life span: Up to 10 years, usually 5-7.

Originates from: West afrikas; Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivery-coast , Togo, Dahomey, Ghana, Nigeria and  Guinea

Soft body: black, brown, beige. Body can also be albino, but albinos are very rare. Dorsal streak in non-albino animals and always a "V" on the tail.
 

Apex: White, sometimes very faint red can also be pronounced.

Columella: red, burgundy

Egg size: Length about 7-10mm, width 5mm cm; The eggs are Achatina sp.

Clutch size: 30-300 eggs per clutch

 
Housing:  The terrarium should have five adult animals for a minimum size of 100 x 40 x 40 cm. The humidity should be between 80-90%. The soil should be moist also may stagnate but not always  because the animals do not like to move elsewhere on the floor. The temperatures should be in the day at about 26-28 ° C and at night at least 20 ° C.

A heating of the basin is necessary, as it is  heat-loving by nature!

 Temperature 27 ° C - 30 ° C.

 

Feeding: Salads, vegetables and fruit - not picky
